Pole Dancing: Don't Get It

Watching American series - specially Reality Shows - one can never end laughing at the things rich people woth nothing better to do come up with. From "blowjob schools" to deep washing their asses with what remains in the filter after you've brewed your coffee, anal bleaches and vagina reductions the extent of what they are capable of come up with - and the people selling them these... services - not only exceeds the imagination, but also defies to earn the permanent elimination of the "Sapiens" part from "Homo Sapiens".

From all the strange things that happen up in the Hills, some trickle down from time to time, and one of those - maybe the latest - is the Pole Dancing fever. I agree that it is a practice that engages your entire body, that's hard and requieres lots of patience, determination and a great level of fitness to achieve, but I still don't get it. I can somehow understand the fascination for exercises that include circus acrobacies - and in some parts of it pole dancing acrobacies  could be incorporated - but the pole dancing, as the dancing strippers do in stripclubs... That I don't really get. Is it that we are all preparing for the final collapse of the world, where the only professions to survive would be stripper, whore, murderer and thief? (I'll go for pimp or murderer.)

Now, to be fair, I know people who's crazy for fitness, who would jump at any new type of exercise that's a real (enough) exercise and which really includes working your body. They do it for the thrill, for the desire to conquer yet another physical activity that brings them closer to further perfect their body. They do Pole dancing today and if tomorrow the passion goes for harvesting the crops with a manual scythe, then they'll pick up the scythe and jump on the field too. And that's okay, because their purpose is clear: perfect their body, and they usually are very, very fit, thus the trying out and mastering of different exercises is part of their usual intent.

What I don't get is the people who jump on spinning, pilates, yoga, TRX or pole dancing because it's the fashionable thing to do. Others - truth to be told - couldn't be bothered with a good, old fashioned aerobics' class, but they'll do pole dancing because it's sexy. These are usually the ones that jump into it thinking they'll look from day one like Demi Moore in Striptease, but as soon as they have to do more effort than looking like cheap whores, they leave blaming the teachers, the studio, the class... you name it.

The thing is that this type of fashionable activity or wave actually preys on that. Just think about it. How much money do these "pay to do things people in worse economic conditions are forced to do" activities take from those who join because it's fashionable? Only a few - those few - would take it seriously, but the rest are simply attracted by the promise of an experience that makes them into who they are not.

Pole dancing thus degenerates from an exercise to what it looks to the naked eye: a class to teach you how to be a stripper. In the wake of it, soon you could pay for classes to walk like a whore, lean on a car window, or even to be a homeless person. Are we for real?

Sure, granted, I might be mistaken, but sorry, not only from what I seen about pole dancing, but from the reactions of people interested in this is that I have the opinion I have.

A lot of whores aren't bad folk, and if you're going to be doing something, be good at it! In fact, a lot of their plight is based on society and economic class, plus the illegalization of their trade. Making it legal and regulated would keep women (and men) safe while bringing in tax income- yay for improving roads, schools, and medical programs. A blog you might like to look through on the subject is http://maggiemcneill.wordpress.com/

That being said, while I love getting exercise, in as many ways as possible (aerobics get boring to me- I need a *point* to my exercise, like learning martial arts or something), pole dancing probably isn't for me. But if someone could make money off of teaching people to pole dance? Go for it! It'd be the sensible thing to do!

I see your point and I share it... partially. See, it isn't a matter of legalizing or not prostitution or striptease, but rather a matter of mentality from the part of the clients, and a mentality often the "suppliers" prey on. Yes, if you can make money out of teaching Beverly Hills rich ladies how to behave like a professional whore, do it! Charge them and you all be satisfied! Uhum, and say, if they bring their six year old children, would you teach them too into the fine art of how to whore out?

Granted, Pole dancing isn't whoring out, it is actually a very demanding physical activity that requieres dedication and lots of work. Yes, nice, good for it. The problem is when pole dancing lessons aren't marketed exactly as an exercise for further improving your flexibility, upper body strenght and whatever else, but as a sexy exercise that would turn you into the whore with the highest bids on the block.

I had a similar problem years ago with belly dancing. Belly dancing is a beautiful, traditional art that conveys many rich cultural aspects. However it was marketed all around as a body toning class that's also sexy, so you can seduce any man by just swinging your hips the right way.

I'll agree there. I would hope that teachers are of the ethical sort, and would disallow kids to attend (no matter what). I know that some yoga classes here do because they don't want to be teaching AND babysitting your kids, having them disrupt class- plus hot yoga can be OK for adults, but dangerous for kids. Pole-dancing might not involve a lack of air conditioning, but it can certainly pose a lot of questions at an age where they can't comprehend the answers yet. It's one of those things that should be left for adults to do.
